OK, so it’s a week later and it’s no surprise that Mike Huckabee hasn’t contacted us. It looks like he spoke on Rosie O’Donnell’s Sirius radio show today. (Side bar: why can’t we get any love from Rosie? We’ve tried to approach her numerous times over the years. We’re fighting the same fight, we’ve really wanted to reach out a hand…she could have helped us out with the dinner invite…it’s disappointing.)
The biggest push we can think right now is to talk about the fact that the invite has gone unresponded for nearly a week and read the letter on Youtube. Mr. Huckabee is Southern, we expect that he’s been brought up with better manners. We’re going to see what we can do to make it go viral (definitely not our forte or area of expertise.)
So we taped a quick spot at the restaurant before dinner service. If you can help us spread this and gain more momentum, it’d help us all. If you just want to go to the Hearty Boys Youtube channel and make up a batch of the Cilantro Garlic Ribs we demo, I’d understand. But try to focus on the Huckabee invite! And Rosie…come on now. Maybe we should be inviting you for dinner after Mike. I’m feeling like we’d get a quicker answer from him.

Have you thought about also going to the Prop 8 Trial Tracker blog site and posting a comment there, or possibly contacting Julia Rosen, Rick Jacobs, or Brian Leubitz with Courage Campaign? Also, I will copy and paste the above link in my WordPress blog, “A Gay in the Life.” Or you can post a comment about it with the link if you want. Just click above, and you will be directed to the blog. Like you say, we are all fighting the same fight–to prove that “ALL FAMILIES MATTER,” to quote the bumper sticker on the back of my car.

Am blogging this and forwarding it to as many people as I can. Best of luck on your Families Valued event. You make me wish, for the first time in my life, that I lived in the Chicago area instead of California.
All the best to your family!!

Keep us posted on how this goes. And you guys can also look me up on FB. I am in the Hearty Boys group. I have a bumper sticker on my car that I wish everybody had on their car. It is a round rainbow stripe and over the rainbow strips it reads, “ALL FAMILIES MATTER” which is the truth everybody needs to realize. Love is what makes a family, not how many are male and how many are female, not even whether the parents are opposite genders or the same genders. to have a family, you must have love.
